Job Summary

This position will provide hands-on training to cosmetology students in a laboratory environment and simulated salon.

Required Qualifications

Certified as an instructor in good standing with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)

One to two years working as a licensed cosmetologist

Knowledge of general cosmetology-related equipment and supplies

Proficient in skills related to the field of cosmetology

Proficient in TDLR rules and regulations

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations

Ability to work as a member of the instructional team

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree

Instructor experience

Essential Functions

Observe and instruct students with performing cosmetology procedures on manikins and clients

Observe and instruct students in proper customer service procedures

Coordinate student progress in coursework with instructional team

Assist to maintain records of student activities performed in the lab or classroom

Attend regular staff meetings

Work under the supervision of the Program Chair to support student success

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Must be able to move or lift up to 25 pounds

Use of manual dexterity

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

Ambulate without restrictions

Indoor lab with cosmetology chemicals present

Classroom, lab, and office setting

Employee will come in direct contact with Midland College employees, students, and the public

Min Salary 13.65 per hour
Max Salary 19.00 per hour

This is a part-time, 19 hpw position providing instructional assistance to Cosmetology student in the lab and other duties assigned by Program Chair.
